Hooded Menace - Effigies of Evil (2012)
Yet another new "old school" band that bores me to fucking death. Sure, they've got the right tempo going, but there's just something dull and uninteresting about the riffs, not to mention the overwrought sound of the music itself. You can scream until you're blue in the face about how "old" this sounds, yada yada, and I still won't give a shit. This is just fucking plain old 'el lame-O'. HM are also one of those bands, like Skeletal Spectre and Acid Witch, who seem undecided on whether or not they want to go full on Allman Brothers with it or merely stay "true" and continue on hashing out redundant death/doom riffs as being "br00tal" or "technical" is obviously not the cool thing to do at the moment. Either way, they suck as does this, their third foray into the loving embrace of all of the "old school" dorks who are smitten with them and will undoubtedly piss their Pampers over this ultra fucking lame release. Oh well.
